Myriad Notch
Mac app · File shelf & clipboard history

A piece of the screen that comes alive under the pointer,
not one more window.

Myriad Notch is a shelf under the notch of your Mac. Move the pointer onto the notch and a glass panel slides out from under it: the files you are about to need, your recent copies, the things you keep pinned, and your widgets. Move away and it folds back. On a Mac without a notch, a black pill the size of a notch sits in the same spot and does the same job.

The shelf

Drop it on the notch

Files wait on the shelf. Drag one out and a copy lands.

The panel open under the notch: Shelf with a folder, a PDF and a JPEG, Recents with a colour, an image and a link, and a pinned logo

One rule throughout: dragging something out of the shelf copies it. The original stays where it was.

Files

The shelf

Drag a file or a folder onto the notch

It stays on the shelf until you take it off. Drag it out into Finder, Mail or Slack and a copy lands there.

Screenshot on one button

Select an area and the shot goes to the shelf and to the clipboard.

AirDrop, conversion, path, colour

AirDrop straight from the shelf, PNG to JPEG and back, copy path, show in Finder, and an eyedropper that puts a colour from the screen into your clipboard.

Copies

Clipboard history

Everything you copy with ⌘C waits in the panel

Text, images, files. Keep the last 5 to 50 copies, your call. Click to copy it again, drag to drop it anywhere.

Pinned items stay for good

The paragraph from the contract, the logo, the link you send five times a day.

Password managers are left alone

What a password manager marks as concealed is skipped, not kept.

Widgets in the pill

Six widgets, folded away

Weather, music, pomodoro and your next meeting, either side of the notch.

The collapsed pill around the notch: time and battery, a pomodoro countdown, the weather, the next meeting and the date

The collapsed pill has room for six mini widgets, either side of the notch.

Weather, date and time

And a world clock for the cities you pick.

Music

Artwork, title and level bars while Music, Spotify or YouTube Music in your browser is playing, with play, pause and skip without bringing the player forward.

Pomodoro, meetings, reminders

A pomodoro countdown, your next meeting with a join button, your next three reminders.

CPU, memory, disk and battery

Live, and exchange rates from the European Central Bank.

Folders and Finder

Three folders and Finder within reach, a line of text of your own.

Plugged in

A short animation when you plug in the charger or a drive.

The widget dashboard

Your day on one panel

Forecast, reminders, calendar, folders and rates. Cards you arrange yourself.

The Widgets tab: cards for weather, pomodoro, reminders, calendar, folders and system load laid out on the panel

The Widgets tab holds cards you arrange yourself: weather with a 7-day forecast, music with controls, pomodoro with short and long breaks, reminders you can tick off, snooze or add to, calendar, folders, world clock, exchange rates, system load, and a mirror, which is a camera preview before a call.

Now playing

Playing, without the player

Music, Spotify or YouTube Music in a browser tab. Play, pause, skip.

The music card on the panel: artwork, title, level bars and play, pause and skip controls
The prompter

Speak, and the text moves

Stop, and it waits. Loudness only: nothing recorded, nothing recognised.

The Prompter tab: a script in large serif type on the left, and switches for voice auto-start, microphone sensitivity, countdown, loop, mirror and hiding from screen sharing on the right

Paste your text, switch on the microphone, read

The text scrolls while you speak and stops when you go quiet. It measures loudness only: nothing is recorded, nothing is recognised.

Countdown, loop, mirror, your keys

There is a 3-2-1 countdown, loop, a mirrored mode for beam-splitter glass, keys you can remap, your own type and colours, and one switch that hides the panel from screen recordings and screen sharing.

Drop a file on the panel

Drop a .docx, .txt or .md file on the panel and it is in the editor.

Notes

A note, nothing else

One column, a word count, two shortcuts.

The note editor filling the panel: one column of serif text, a word and character count, and Cancel and Save buttons

A distraction-free editor: one column of text in the middle, a word count, two shortcuts. Notes stay on your Mac.

Your way

No notch? Same pill.

A notch-sized pill at the top edge, auto-hide, accent colour, your keys.

On a Mac without a notch: a black pill the size of a notch at the top edge of the screen, showing the time, battery, weather and date

Shortcuts, all remappable

Shortcuts for the panel, the screenshot, the pill, pomodoro and music, all remappable.

Auto-hide the pill

Never, in full-screen apps, or always; a hidden pill lets clicks through.

Accent colour, panel theme, glass strength

A menu bar icon, launch at login. Ten languages.

Privacy

No account, no sign-up, no data collected.

Weather comes from the name of your city, not from your location.

  • Nothing about you is collectedThere is no account and no sign-up, and the app has no analytics. The App Store listing says the same: data not collected.
  • What does go online, and whyThe forecast for the city you name, exchange rates from the European Central Bank, and artwork for what is playing. None of those requests carries anything that identifies you, and nothing from them is stored.
  • The prompter hears loudness, not wordsNothing is recorded and nothing is recognised — the microphone only tells the text when to move.
  • Your clipboard stays your clipboardThe history lives on your Mac, password managers are left alone, and notes are kept locally.
